Privacy Policy

How Rising Minds collects, uses and protects your personal and health information.

Last updated 13 August 2026

Rising Minds Counselling & Psychotherapy is a service of Rise Today Consulting Services Corp. ("Rising Minds", "we", "us"), and is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the personal and health information entrusted to us. This policy explains what personal and health information we collect, how we use and safeguard it, and your rights. We handle your information in keeping with applicable Canadian privacy law and the standards of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

01

Information we collect

We collect the contact details you provide (such as name, email and phone), your booking information, and the personal and health information you share during intake and sessions — together, your clinical record. For your safety, we also ask for your home address and the address you are attending from during each session (if different) — so that, in the rare event of an emergency during an online session, help can reach you quickly. We may also collect limited website-usage data (see Cookies & analytics).

02

How we use your information

We use your information to provide and coordinate your care, to schedule and deliver sessions, to process payment and issue receipts, to communicate with you, and to meet our professional and legal record-keeping obligations.

04

The platforms we use

Scheduling and sessions are provided through NousTalk, a secure practice-management platform, and payments may be processed by a third-party payment provider. These providers process information on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

05

Storage & security

Your information is stored securely using encryption and access controls, and sessions are conducted over a secure platform. We take reasonable steps to protect your information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access or disclosure.

Privacy is a shared responsibility. Because we meet in your space and on your own device, we encourage you to help protect it on your side too — participate from a private location, use a secure internet connection, protect your devices with passwords or other access controls, and keep your device software reasonably up to date. It helps keep what is shared between us exactly that.

06

Confidentiality & its limits

Your information is kept confidential except where disclosure is required or permitted by law — including a risk of serious harm to you or others, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, and court orders or subpoenas.

07

Session recordings

Sessions are not routinely recorded. On the rare occasion a recording is proposed for a specific professional purpose, such as clinical supervision, your separate written consent is obtained beforehand. Any recording is held within the secure NousTalk platform and is automatically deleted after three days.

08

How long we keep your information

Clinical records are retained for the period required by the applicable regulatory college (BCACC and/or CRPO), after which they are securely destroyed.

09

Your rights

You may request access to, or correction of, your personal information, subject to any legal limits. To make a request, contact us through our Contact page.

10

Cookies & website analytics

Our website may use cookies and basic analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve it. This information is not used to identify you personally. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

11

Minors

Where services are provided to a minor, a parent or legal guardian's involvement and consent generally apply. Consent, privacy and access to records for minor clients are otherwise handled in accordance with applicable provincial law, professional standards, and the young person's capacity to consent.

12

Privacy breaches

In the event of a privacy breach that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the appropriate authorities as required by law.

14

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent version.
