Therapeutic approaches

Therapy shaped around you.

Thoughtful, integrative care that draws from evidence-informed therapeutic approaches while making space for your individual experiences, needs, and goals.

An integrative approach, grounded in you.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.

Erica works from an integrative, evidence-informed perspective, drawing from different therapeutic approaches according to each client’s experiences, needs, goals, and circumstances.

Rather than beginning with a particular technique or fitting you into a predetermined model, therapy begins with understanding you. Together, you can explore the approaches and practices that may be most relevant to the work you’re doing and adjust the process as your needs evolve.

The approaches below represent some of the therapeutic perspectives that most strongly inform Erica’s work. They are used within the scope of her professional training, education, and competence.

Examples of Common Psychotherapeutic Approaches Erica Draws From:

Compassionate Inquiry®
Compassionate Inquiry® is a trauma-informed approach that explores how earlier experiences, beliefs, emotions, and patterns may continue to influence the present. With curiosity and compassion, therapy can create space to notice these connections and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your responses.
ACT explores how we relate to difficult thoughts and emotions while helping clarify the values that matter most to us. Rather than trying to eliminate uncomfortable internal experiences, ACT offers ways to respond to them with greater awareness while considering actions that align with what is meaningful to you.
CBT explores the connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. It can help identify patterns of thinking and responding that may be contributing to distress and introduce practical strategies for considering situations and responses from different perspectives.
Attachment-informed therapy considers how early and significant relationships may shape the ways we experience closeness, trust, safety, conflict, and connection. This perspective can help bring greater understanding to relationship patterns and the ways we relate to ourselves and others.
Our emotional experiences are not separate from our bodies. Mind-body and nervous-system-informed work brings attention to physical sensations, emotional responses, stress patterns, and the ways the body may respond to difficult experiences. Practices are introduced thoughtfully and collaboratively, according to each client’s comfort and needs.
Mindfulness involves intentionally bringing attention to present-moment experiences with curiosity and less judgment. Within therapy, mindfulness-based practices may be used to notice thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and patterns of responding without requiring them to immediately change.
Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative approach that can be helpful when you feel uncertain or conflicted about change. Rather than telling you what you should do, it creates space to explore your own motivations, values, concerns, and reasons for considering change.
Erica’s work with couples is informed by principles and practices from the Gottman Method, alongside other relational and attachment-informed perspectives. This may include exploring patterns of communication, conflict, friendship, emotional connection, and the ways partners respond to one another within the relationship.

Humanistic therapy honours your unique experiences, values, and capacity for personal growth. Grounded in empathy, authenticity, and respect, this approach offers a supportive space to deepen self-understanding, explore what matters most to you, and make choices that feel meaningful and true to who you are.

Our experiences shape our stories, but they don’t have to define our future. Drawing on narrative approaches, we explore how you make sense of life’s challenges, recognize strengths and resilience, and reconnect with the values, meaning, and possibilities that matter most to you.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is a collaborative, goal-oriented approach that places attention on what matters to you, what may already be working, and the strengths and resources you bring to the situation. Rather than focusing exclusively on the problem, it explores possibilities, exceptions, and small steps that may support movement toward your preferred direction.
Erica may also draw from principles and practices associated with other evidence-informed therapeutic frameworks where appropriate and within her training and scope of practice.
Your Care, Your Voice, Your Pace

Therapy is a collaborative process, and your voice matters every step of the way.

Together, we’ll explore therapeutic approaches that align with your unique needs, experiences, and goals, with space to ask questions, share feedback, and adjust our work as your circumstances evolve.

You don’t need to know which therapeutic approach is right for you before reaching out. We can simply begin with a conversation about what brings you to therapy, what you hope to explore or work toward, and what matters most to you.
